British Open: The oldest Major League of golf village

The British Open, also known as The Open Championship, will take place at the Royal Portrush courtyard from July 18-21, 2019.

The 148th Open Royal Portrush 18th Hero

The Open Championship is the major tournament with the oldest history of all the four largest professional golf events of the year. This will be the 148th tournament organized by The R&A (The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews).

Traditionally, The Open is the third major award of the year to be held in mid-July, but since 2019, this will be the final tournament. Because before that, the PGA Championship left the schedule from August to May.

History of The Open Champiosnhip

The Open was first held in 1860 at Prestwick Golf Club, Scotland. The prize is always held in the UK and is the only major outside the United States.

The feature of the tournament is held in the fields adjacent to the beach (links course). These yards often bring a lot of challenges to the golfer by the harsh weather conditions.

The 2019 Open will return to Royal Portrush after being first held 68 years ago, in 1951.

Players from the United States lead the way with 44 league titles, the second is Scottland with 41 times, and the third is England with 22 times.
